This is likely why most seniors prefer to retire in the town, or close to the town, where they have lived all their lives. 1. Raleigh – Cary, North Carolina – Raleigh – Cary area in North Carolina has seen an increase of 60% in seniors in the last decade. There are two wonderful retirement villages in these areas: Carolina Arbors by Del Webb is a great 55+ active adult community you can consider retiring to in Raleigh, and the other is Carolina Preserve at Amberly in Cary.

2. Austin – Round Rock, Texas – The weather in Texas makes this state a splendid place to retire. The Austin – Round Rock area has seen a 53% increase in seniors since 2000. The number of baby boomers (55 – 64) to has doubled since 2000.

3. Las Vegas – Paradise, Nevada – Senior population in the Las Vegas–Paradise area has increased by 50% between 2000 and 2010. Approximately 37% of the population is over 45. Nevada is a popular senior destination because of the lure of Las Vegas. And there are a few 55 and over communities in Las Vegas, you can consider. 4. Boise City – Nampa, Idaho – The Boise City – Nampa area has seen an increase of 46% of seniors 65 and over and 92% of boomers between 55 and 64 since 2000. In addition, a 53% increase in over-45s has also been noted during the last ten years.

5. Atlanta – Sandy Springs – Marietta, Georgia – The state capital region of Georgia has seen an increase of 44% in seniors over the last decade. The state’s booming economy could be one of the reasons why so many seniors have settled in Georgia. There are 235 active retirement communities in Georgia. 6. Provo – Orem, Utah – Although Provo and Orem have seen an increase in the senior population; only 5.8% of the total population is over the age of 65. However, Utah is a great place to retire as there are many attractions and activities.

7. Colorado Springs, Colorado – Colorado Springs is known mainly for its naval bases and colleges. Therefore, this place attracts many young people. However, there are also a remarkable number of seniors in this place. Gorgeous scenery, lovely weather, and plenty of activities make Colorado Springs a great place to retire.

8. Houston – Sugar Land – Baytown, Texas – Grassy parks, museums, galleries, plenty of restaurants, and sunny weather make the Houston – Sugar Land – Baytown area a popular retirement destination. In addition, over the last decade, the Houston area has seen an increase of 39% in people over the age of 65.

9. Dallas – Fort Worth – Arlington, Texas – These cities have seen significant growth in the senior population over the last 10 years. This included a 77% increase in people over the age of 55 and a 38% increase in people over the age of 65.

10. Charlotte – Gastonia – Concord, North Carolina – South Carolina – This is the last fastest-growing retirement destination. The Charlotte area has seen an increase of 36% in people 65 and older. 31% of the Charlotte area’s residents are over the age of 45.
