Plantation Estates

Recently, my husband and I visited North Carolina. We wanted to check out some 55 plus rental communities. We looked through a number of communities and found the perfect place for anyone, including us, to retire. This community simply took me by surprise. It was charming, picturesque and the residents were friendly and extremely welcoming. What is this community I’m talking about? It is Plantation Estates in Matthews, North Carolina. If you wished to rent and not buy a home, this is the perfect rental community to do just that.

Why is Plantation Estates so Special?

There are so many things that make this 55+, age-restricted, maintenance-free active adult community special.

Location – First of all it is in a superb location. The community is located in Mecklenburg County and is within easy distance to some of the best dining, entertainment and cultural attractions. Furthermore, this rental community is close to many nationally acclaimed hospitals and health providers.

SecurityPlantation Estates is a gated community. This means you are one of the lucky residents to live in a community that provides you the feeling of security you need in retirement. This facility provides you the peace of mind necessary to enjoy all the recreational facilities provided by this rental community.

Number of Homes – The community offers 359 independent living apartments in different sizes to suit your requirements. For example, you can choose a home from a studio to one bedroom, one bath home to three bedrooms and two baths. These homes have been in demand by many 55 plus seniors since the community opened its doors to them in 1988. There are also 60 assisted living suites and 80 skilled care beds if the need should ever arise.

Price – Home prices in this community begin at just $100,000. There are two fees involved at Plantation Estates. This entitles you to a lifetime lease of living in a residential, assisted living or skilled-care home based on your requirements. Entrance fees and monthly rentals depend on the size of your accommodation.

Monthly Fees – As this is a maintenance-free rental community, you will be required to pay a monthly sum for any maintenance work. For example, repairs, lawn maintenance, exterior cleaning etc. require a monthly fee. In addition, you will have to pay utilities and taxes, and other personal services that include 24-hour security, annual housekeeping, 24-hour access to a resident nurse etc.

Amenities – This is a rental community that offers you myriad of choices when it comes to amenities. These include the indoor swimming pool, fitness center and fitness classes, fishing lake, game room, wood workshop, library, craft room and walking trails. A full-time activities director is also on-board to make sure you have an eventful retirement. There is a gift shop, banking facilities, a chapel, and beauty salon and housekeeping services. This rental community also enables you to own a pet as it is a pet-friendly community. However, pets have to be under 25lbs.

I don’t think you need any more information to make your choice about this community. But, let me give you one more… This community is accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. I would say this is one of the best plus Active Adult Living to live in.

So, if you are unwilling to spend your nest egg on the purchase of a home, consider renting a home in this community. You will enjoy every minute of your life here.
