What can you do to Save the Environment and Make a Difference?

April 22nd was Earth Day. This is a day where you and all your friends and family support the environment. This is your chance to organize various activities and festivals to rekindle your commitment to helping save the environment. Earth Day is celebrated around the world by people of different walks of life. If you are concerned about global warming and are willing to save the environment, this is your chance to prove your commitment to the Earth.

About Earth Day

Earth Day began on the 22nd of April 1970. It was a day dedicated to thinking and reflecting about the planet, the environment and what we can do to keep both clean and healthy. Two people were responsible for the formation of Earth Day. These were Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin and Denis Hayes. Earth Day, in 1970, accomplished many things. These included the establishment of the Environment Protection Agency, the Clean Air Act of 1970 and the passing of the Federal Occupational Health and Safety Act. The Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act were also passed three years after these accomplishments.

What you can do for Earth Day

If you are wondering how you can contribute to Mother Earth, it does not matter that Earth Day has passed. Each day is a possibility for you to make a difference to our planet. There are many ways that you can make each day a celebration of Earth Day. You can start by making a commitment to learning more about your environment and doing something to protect it. For example, you can plant some trees in your neighborhood or garden, get together with family and friends and encourage the local bird population by building a birdhouse or purchase products only from local growers or make a commitment to reducing, recycling and reusing more efficiently than before, etc. You can also consider joining a local group involved in undertaking activities that help protect your local environment.

You don’t have to wait till next Earth Day to protect your planet. You can commit to protecting your planet the entire year. For example, think about where you live. Is your home eco-friendly? Does it contain fixtures that are harmful to the environment? If you wish to make a contribution to your planet, you need to firstly, consider these factors. If you have any fixtures in your home which are harmful to the environment, get rid of them. Use energy-saving light bulbs, insulate your home better, improve your hot water system efficiency, and consider converting to solar power. Doing these things not only helps you save your planet, but it also helps save money.

Many active adult communities, these days, are being built with the environment protection in mind. For example, Trilogy Homes, such as, Trilogy Orlando by Shea Homes, Groveland, Florida, Trilogy at Monarch Dunes, Nipomo, California and Trilogy at Rio Vista, Rio Vista, California are communities built by J F Shea Company which are all eco-friendly homes. Shea Homes introduced the SheaXero homes that combine solar power with energy-efficient features that eliminate your electric bill. Other green communities include Chapel Hill Estates, Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Woodbridge, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania by S & A Homes, and Thompson Overlook in Loveland, Colorado by Midtown Homes and many more. More eco-communities, which are geared towards saving the planet, can be found by visiting our website ActiveAdultLiving.com. This is a website of more than 6,600 communities. You are sure to find a home that enables you to do your part in saving the environment.
