A cup of Chamomile tea

Most often, with the advancement of age, we all have trouble sleeping. I, too have this problem. I have tried just about everything I could think of from acupuncture to aromatherapy, and just about anything, anyone has told me to try. However, nothing worked for me until the day someone told me to try drinking chamomile tea before bed. That night, I slept like a newborn baby. I did some research about the benefits of drinking chamomile tea, and I thought I should share the information I got with my readers. Here are five benefits of drinking chamomile tea before bed.

1. Helps Fight Anxiety

Many of us suffer from anxiety. We worry about unnecessary things and get our stress levels up which increases cholesterol and blood pressure, which causes a whole different problem. Chamomile tea has been shown to reduce feelings of anxiety and calm the mind. You may be aware that chamomile tea is often recommended for stress and anxiety, and now I know why.

2. Helps Fight PMS Symptoms

As a woman, I sympathize with all the ladies who are cranky, can’t sleep, are irritable, and suffer from menstrual cramps. A piece of advice; drink chamomile tea before bed, regularly. It seems that drinking chamomile tea on a regular basis helps with muscle cramps and irritability. I know many women suffer from abdominal cramping during their menstrual cycle. Chamomile tea has the ability to relax the uterus, and, as a result, calms the muscles in the uterus and stops abdominal cramping.

3. Helps with Digestive Disorders

Chamomile tea has anti-gas and anti-spasmodic properties. This factor helps relieve pain that occurs with an upset stomach. Chamomile tea also helps with mild cases of constipation and also eases stomach cramps. If you suffer from frequent stomach cramps or constipation, drink chamomile tea on a regular basis, and it will help you significantly.

4. Helps with the Skin

Do you suffer from puffiness around the eyes and dark circles under the eyes? I sometimes do. I have found that drinking chamomile tea gives me a well-rested look. This could be because it promotes a good night’s sleep too…. You can get rid of the puffiness and dark circles under the eyes by soaking tea bags in warm water and placing it under the eyes until it dries.

5. Helps with Inflammation

Chamomile tea is excellent for you if you suffer from arthritis, rheumatism, or fibromyalgia. Drinking tea regularly increases nitric oxide in the body and provides relief from the discomfort and pain associated with these autoimmune diseases. So, drink up and suffer no more!

Apart from these five great benefits, chamomile tea also is great for burns and scrapes. Mix three chamomile tea bags with boiling water and using a clean cloth dip it in the mixture and apply it to the affected area.

Chamomile tea is available anywhere. You don’t need a doctor’s prescription to purchase it. So, the next time you are in the grocery store, including a box of chamomile tea in your shopping cart. I did, and I am reaping its benefits.
