Most retirees prefer to continue working after they have retired as it gives them a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Retirees also enjoy a career after retirement because it also helps them generate an income that can make ends meet more comfortably. However, some cities may not be suitable to launch a retirement career, and this is why it is important to find a place suitable for retirement careers, if that is what you would like to do. 2. Bridgeport, Connecticut – The unemployment rate in Bridgeport, according to sources, was down to 7.6% in 2013. The employment rate of seniors is currently 34.1%, which is an extremely good place to be to launch a retirement career.

3. Madison, Wisconsin – This college town has many jobs in the state and education sectors. Approximate figures of 32.7% of seniors are employed in Madison. The unemployment rate in Madison fell 0.1% in May 2014 down to 4.1%.

4. Omaha, Nebraska – This is the largest city in Nebraska and is a good place to launch a retirement career. As of May 2014, the unemployment rate was down to 4.0%. The metro area has several Fortune 500 companies. Omaha also has a low senior unemployment rate.

5. Salt Lake City, Utah – According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for Salt Lake City fell 0.2% and in May 2014 it was at 3.6%. Almost a third of the senior-citizen population is employed and according to Forbes this is one of the best places to retire.

6. Lancaster, Pennsylvania – Most of the 60+ population of Lancaster, Pennsylvania are employed at the Lancaster General Hospital and Lancaster County. The unemployment rate for Lancaster was at 4.6% as of May 2014. Only approximately 1.9% of seniors in Lancaster are unemployed.

7. Dallas, Texas – The unemployment rate of Dallas fell 0.1% down to 5.2% in May 2014. Dallas is expected to grow exponentially in energy, financial services and health care.

8. Austin, Texas – Austin is another city in Texas where you can launch a retirement career. 31% of seniors in Austin are employed and the unemployment rate as of May 2014 is at 3.80%.

9. Portland, Maine – As of May 2014, the unemployment rate of Portland, Maine was unchanged at 4.6%. The unemployment rate of senior workers was 1.4%.

10. Boston, Massachusetts – This is the capitol and largest city in Massachusetts. The unemployment rate as of April 2014 was at 5.2% and it had a drop of 0.3% . Boston is considered one of the largest employers of senior workers.
