About Cherrydale by the Sea
Our location in the Mid-Atlantic provides a mild four season climate. We pride ourselves in our focus on conservation, the pristine quality of our waterways, and our enlightened approach to planning and zoning which significantly limits growth and development in our fragile coastal areas. Large portions of our community have been designated by the United Nations as a Biosphere Reserve, a distinction given few places on the planet. We are surrounded by water, with the Atlantic Ocean on our East wrapping around into the Chesapeake.
Just a few miles away is the coast of the Chesapeake Bay, with an entirely different coastal quality, including yachting marinas, bay fishing, sailing,
the beautiful Kiptopeke Beach State Park, Bay Creek Golf Resort, and many other Bayside assets. It’s like having “dual coasts”, both with numerous nearby boat launches within just minutes of your seaside retreat at Cherrydale by the Sea on our scenic rural peninsula.
Our scenic community boasts two National Wildlife Refuges, the Chincoteague/Assateague and the Eastern Shore/Cape Charles wildlife refuges, as well as Kiptopeke Beach State Park, three wildlife Management reserves, and the Nature Conservancy’s “Virginia Coast Reserve”, truly some of the most beautiful and unspoiled coastal land in America.
