About The Meadows
Welcome to “THE MEADOWS”
“THE MEADOWS” is a community of active adults 50+. We are located in the heart of beautiful south central Minnesota’s lake country. Litchfield is the county seat for Meeker County and located on Lake Ripley.
Litchfield is the definition of safety, convenience, small town sense of community and stability. Litchfield in itself is a thriving community of approximately 7,500 people with excellent health care and a newly expanded hospital and clinics.
Whether you begin your day with a round of golf on Litchfield’s 18 hole course by the lake, go fishing for the big one at many of our local lakes, take a wine tasting tour of
the local wineries, pick apples and berries at the local orchards, volunteer at Anderson Gardens, visit the Historical Society’s restoration of the Forest City Stockade, or Litchfield’s own Opera House, you may want to complete your day at your own clubhouse pool and spa.
Today the shuttle stops at your clubhouse door to bring you and a few of your neighbors to the Mall of America (the largest indoor mall in the United States), Walker Art Center, Guthrie Theatre, a concert at Target Center or Excel Center, one of the professional sports or collegiate sports games, casinos, dinner theatres or any one of hundreds of entertain- ment venues within a short shuttle ride. Remember, the shuttle will pick you up at your clubhouse, deliver you to the front door of your favorite activity and bring you back with- out the need for you to back your car out of the garage, or locate parking at your chosen activity.
Maybe today a group of friends are meeting at the clubhouse for bridge, hobby rooms, practicing a singing routine on the stage in the banquet hall, use of the fitness center, water aquatics, billiards, pickleball, horseshoes, tennis or participating in a community college or community education course.
“THE MEADOWS”, the definition of “Minnesota Nice” is located on the original homestead of Mr. & Mrs. John Harmon. John was the publisher of the “Independent Review” which is still printing today. Mr. & Mrs. Harmon raised four daughters on the homestead. The farm was purchased from the estate to become “THE MEADOWS”. The original farm house still stands next to the new clubhouse that is expected to be completed in 2016.
Security. Safety. Community. Stability. “THE MEADOWS” is home! Welcome home.
