SunRiver
St. George is a master planned 55 and better community
that is filling a much needed niche for the active
retires that are flocking to the beauty of Southern
Utah. SunRiver boasts a golf course, elegant ballroom,
spacious, yet cozy clubhouse and well equipped workout
rooms. There are pools, tennis courts, and lawn bowling
greens too. Many residents work together to make a
strong showing in many events in the World Senior Games
held every October right here in sunny St. George. New
construction homes in SunRiver even come with your own
golf cart – frequently used by residents to visit
neighbors as well as the course. The atmosphere in
SunRiver is certainly peaceful enough for you to sit
back and relax, but opportunities for adventures are all
around.
You don’t have to take my word for it…The
New York Times had this to say about SunRiver:
“Built in 1998 on the outskirts of St.
George, SunRiver has 600 homes that vaguely resemble
Spanish Colonial villas. But unlike traditional housing
restricted to ages 55 and higher, SunRiver makes no
mention of the word “retirement,” and feels more like a
college campus for graying students that a nursing home
disguised as a country club. At the heart of SunRiver
is a recreation center with a circuit-training gym,
swimming pool, dance studio, locker rooms and a
ballroom. The front desk distributes a monthly calendar
that lists as many as a half-dozen activities a day,
from long hikes to Tai Chi. Adjacent to the center are
several tennis and pickle ball courts, a patch of green
for lawn bowling and a clubhouse for the 18-hole golf
course that winds through the entire subdivision”
“There is an energy flowing through the
SunRiver community that’s hard to define – it just feels
good to be there.”
SunRiver homes have something for
everyone. From the cozy 2 bedroom Villas to the spacious
homes with breathtaking views of the golf course and
surrounding grandeur of Southern Utah’s hills and
mountains. Prices in SunRiver range from the low
$200,000 up. A private, gated section of the community
is now underway
St. George has recently received
recognition as one of the top 10 retirement communities
in the Nation. The New York Times printed an article
describing the desirable conditions that have drawn many
retirees to our area:
“The allure is not hard to see. Etched
into the red-rock cliffs, St. George offers a seemingly
endless array of hiking and biking trails. Eight
national and state parks are within close driving
distance, including the North Rim of the Grand Canyon
and Zion National Park. The city itself has a 30 mile
network of trails along the Virgin and Santa Clara
rivers that connect with longer paths. Three teal-blue
reservoirs double as parks and marinas. Gunlock, Quail
Lake and Sand
Hollow Reservoir State Park offer boating,
fishing, water-skiing, off-road driving and even more
hiking.” “For many retirees, the area looks like one
giant playground.” |
