Activities at Oakmont are endless! The community offers activities for the body and programs to engage the mind. Oakmont has four major activity centers, with tennis courts and year round heated pools and spas. The Central Activity Center is a new building and houses a beautiful fitness center, a computer learning center, an Arts and Crafts room ,a community library, and a card and game room. The Berger Center is the largest auditorium which is used for monthly classical concerts and many Life Long Learning classes. There is also a year-round lawn bowling area, putting greens, bocce ball courts, petanque, and other outdoor activities.
There are two golf courses in Oakmont, and many homes overlook the fairways and greens with unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains. Courses are dotted with heritage oak trees and water features that attract local wildlife, such as egrets, Canadian geese and Mallard ducks. The courses are owned privately, but are open to the public. Both have been developed by renowned designer Ted Robinson. Memberships and greens fees are very reasonably priced.
Owners may choose areas where properties are maintained for them by a homeowners association, or may choose a home in an owner maintained area. The monthly dues paid to the Oakmont Village Association (OVA) are low. The dues for 2010 were set at $55.50 per person per month. Among other things, those dues pay for the maintenance of the common areas -- swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness center, recreation centers and landscaping.
There are also Maintained Area Associations - Some homes are located in maintained areas where landscaping and exterior house painting is taken care of for residents. In addition to OVA fees, dues are collected and vary according to services provided.
